The American Bar Association (ABA) has been drawn into a highly charged war of words with the US’ most influential state bar associations over controversial reforms to its client whistle-blowing rules.
As Legal Week went to press, the state bar associations of New York, Illinois, California and Florida had voiced disapproval of the amendments to ABA model rules to allow lawyers to break client privilege in cases of serious fraud.
