China set to allow London firms to forge local tie-ups

China UK and US law firms are lining up to exploit major reforms to China’s highly coveted practising rights, following the June agreement with Hong Kong to allow local lawyers to offer mainland legal services.

From 1 January, 2004, Hong Kong lawyers will be granted a range of options to practise Chinese law, following the forging of the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (Cepa) this June between the Asian giant and the former colony.
