Douglas ColliverPartners in City firms say that they are ‘overpaid’. Half of the UK’s senior private practice lawyers believe senior partners at major City firms are overpaid, according a poll last month. The Big Question survey by Legal Director‘s sister title Legal Week, in association with recruiter EJ Legal, comes in the wake of continuing controversy over executive pay.

Thirty-six percent of the panel of more than 100 leading lawyers said partners at top UK firms are ‘overpaid’, with a further 14% stating they are ‘grossly overpaid’. In contrast, just 4% said they were ‘underpaid’, while 45% said their level of pay is ‘right’.
