Canada’s main bar association has struck a deal with the Canadian Government to leave lawyers out of new anti-money laundering reporting rules until a key court ruling next year.
The move comes amid concern within the international legal community that governmental demands for reporting on clients after 11 September and the Enron scandal will erode client privilege.
