Delegates at the IBA conference accused US lawyers of flouting the domestic laws of countries across the world with the so-called practice of ‘fly-in fly-out’ without registering with local bars.

Speaking at a showcase session on professional duties on the opening day of the conference on 21 October, lawyers from Taiwan, Germany and Switzerland said unregistered US lawyers were regularly breaking their countries’ domestic laws by flying in to practise US law out of hotel rooms.
