Firm wins right to advise Ariadne Maritime as court allays fears over future partner mobility

Richards Butler has won its appeal against a High Court verdict that would have forced it to withdraw from a major arbitration on the grounds that one of its lawyers could have disclosed confidential information.
The case, which legal experts had feared could have put pressure on law firms to avoid hiring senior lawyers, centred on an arbitration between Richards Butler client Ariadne Maritime and Koch Shipping, which was represented by niche shipping firm Jackson Parton.
