The Bar Council may or may not have made an error of judgement last week when it held its AGM on the same morning as the England vs Denmark World Cup match.

A number of resolutions were up for debate, starting off with a motion ‘noting’ the Legal Services Commission’s Quality Mark programme and ending with a pair of wrecking motions, one saying that the Bar Council was basically outdated and another saying that Harriet Harman should not become a Bar Council member because she was, horror of horrors, a solicitor.
