Top London firms have called a halt to the salary war that has seen base pay for UK lawyers at leading firms surge by nearly 50% in the past two years.
A clutch of top London firms – led by Clifford Chance and Herbert Smith – last month confirmed they are freezing salaries for their newly-qualified lawyers this year, leaving the starting salary for UK qualified lawyers at $70,500.
