A major step towards the deregulation of the legal market was taken last month when the Law Society voted to open immediate talks with the Government on the relaxation of Practice Rule 4.

The relaxation of the rule will mean in practice that companies will be able to offer legal advice to clients in the same way they offer current product lines, thereby opening the door to a completely different model of legal service provision in the UK.
