US firms stepped up their expansion into Italy last week as Baker & McKenzie took over a Bologna firm while Squire Sanders & Dempsey hired a partner for its expanding Milan office from a local boutique.
The Bakers deal sees the global giant acquire the nine-lawyer Bernini e Associati to launch the firm’s third Italian office. The merger became effective from 2 April.
