A barrister found to have made racist comments to the black clerk of an instructing solicitor has been fined £1,000 and been suspended from practice for a year in the first such decision by the Bar’s disciplinary authorities.

Gordon Pringle, a senior junior at civil, crime and family set Bridewell Chambers, was found guilty of making racist comments to solicitor’s clerk Eric Adusei, whose parents are of Ghanaian origin.
