The Diary has been shocked to hear that American lawyers are in danger of losing not just their jobs, but also their souls. An article in the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal claims that billable hours destroy a lawyer’s sense of time.
The argument goes that because all time is essentially the same for lawyers, i.e. time for billing, time in general ceases to have any meaning.
