Although the economic and political climate did not seem to affect the number of delegates at this year’s Gleneagles Legal IT conference and did not deter a surprising number of foreign visitors, it did have a great bearing upon what people had to say. It was obvious that much of the best innovation over the past year has taken place inside law firms and away from the limelight.
There was generally less bluster and less spin from the firms and their suppliers. A well-known IT director attending the event said it was refreshing to hear people admit to encountering problems and disappointments with technology – and useful to compare notes with colleagues who acknowledged similar issues.
