The Scottish legal market is notorious both for its conservatism and its gossip. The legal community is very close knit. Rumours about mergers and moves circulate the market on a regular basis.
But for all the talk, very little seems to actually happen – the last big shake-up came almost two years ago, when DLA announced that it was to jump the border and engaged in merger talks that led to its link with Bird Semple. However, before too long, everything returned to its natural order and firms were even reporting that the English invasion had yet to materialise.
