As I write it is six weeks since the merged entity Berwin Leighton Paisner launched itself on the world. Six weeks can seem like no time at all or it can be an eternity. For me and for the IT team in general it has been the longest six weeks ever – as well as the shortest. Indeed, that sums it up – a period of continuous, exhausting, exciting and mind-bendingly complex change, all done at high speed and with no room for error.

In previous diaries I wrote about linking the sites, rolling out the new templates and housestyle, integrating the finance systems, creating a one e-mail environment, one telephone and fax number and a myriad of other details. If I had thought we were busy before (and I genuinely thought I did), I had no idea what busy was.
