I am a full-practice authority Advanced Practice Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse with specialties in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, suicide, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. I am Director of Psychiatric Services at Northwest Integrated Health in Tacoma, WA an outpatient integrated substance abuse treatment center. I am Professor Emerita from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma where I developed and implemented the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (2014-2022). I was the Director of the PMHNP Program at Yale University School of Nursing (2008-2014). In 1992 I established the first APRN owned-operated rural outpatient psychiatric clinic in the United States. I have published two textbooks.
