Linklaters has substantially beefed up its New York litigation practice with the hire of a 16-lawyer team from White & Case, as UK firms continue to focus their US operations on America’s huge contentious legal market.

White & Case litigation partner Larry Byrne will head up Linklaters’ US litigation practice and comes over from the New York-based giant with fellow partners Joe Armao, Lance Croffoot-Suede and Paul Alfieri, who all join the magic circle firm as partners. Byrne takes over from Paul Wickes, who had been carrying out the role alongside his position as local managing partner. Wickes will now focus on management rather than fee earning.
