In the ever-evolving world of employment law, restrictive covenants have become essential tools for safeguarding business interests, intellectual property, and trade secrets. Crafting and enforcing these covenants, however, necessitates precision to avoid legal challenges. Enforceable restrictive covenants must strike a delicate balance, being reasonable in terms and scope while adhering to federal and state laws.

Robin McGuffin is a Member in the firm’s Lexington office. She is a member of the Employment Law Service Group and the Torts & Insurance Practice Group. She represents companies in all areas of employment law, including defending against discrimination and retaliation claims, litigating restrictive covenant and trade secret claims, counseling on compliance issues, drafting policies and procedures, and drafting employment and restrictive covenant agreements. She also defends companies in a wide variety of non-employment litigations, including but not limited to complex business disputes, product liability, and major accidents. Prior to joining Stites, Robin served as a law clerk for the Honorable John M. Rogers, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ron has experience on a wide range of employment-related issues and provides guidance on substantive areas of the law. He also provides practical advice on managing the workforce. He focuses his practice in the area of employment law, providing consulting services on an entire range of employment-related matters, including Title VII, ADA, wage-hour laws, non-compete agreements, and trade secrets, employment agreements, WARN Act, OSHA, whistleblower laws, ERISA, and downsizing. He also assists clients in creating document retention programs. Ron handles litigation before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), state agencies, and state and federal courts.

Ron also represents national and local clients in a wide range of real estate litigation, including commercial foreclosures, commercial landlord tenant litigation, quiet title, easement and restrictive covenant disputes, and construction litigation.
