Plaintiffs lawyers have asked a federal judge to award a $2.05 million sanction in fees and costs against Facebook parent Meta Platforms and its lawyers at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher for discovery misconduct in privacy litigation.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria of the Northern District of California, in San Francisco, is mulling a sanctions order after finding “dilatory discovery conduct” on the part of Gibson Dunn’s attorneys. Just before a September sanctions hearing, lawyers reached a confidential settlement of the case. Lawyers are due to file their settlement papers Dec. 16.
