The editorial staff of The Legal Intelligencer recognizes diversity, equity and inclusion as a continuing concern in the legal community. This is our biannual discussion, an attempt to propose concrete solutions for the issues the legal profession faces in recruiting, hiring and retaining diverse attorneys.

This year, the panelists (via a Zoom meeting in late August) tackled internal and external pressures on DEI efforts, with the external pressures being front and center in light of recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Some talking points included how leadership roles can affect law firm diversity, how an inclusive culture at a firm is important, ways to educate firm leaders, and finally, a look at sponsoring, mentoring and allyship efforts and how these endeavors put young diverse attorneys on the path toward long-term success.
