The U.S. Supreme Court has denied an application for stay pending certiorari over the counting of 257 undated ballots in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, set aside for lacking a handwritten date on the outer envelope.

The court vacated a May 31, 2022, order issued by Justice Samuel Alito for what is known as an administrative stay of the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in the emergency application Ritter v. Migliori. The stay was put in place until the full court or Alito, who handles emergency matters from the Third Circuit, issues a further order. An administrative stay generally gives the court more time to consider the arguments being made by the parties.
