Following a trial that was eight years in the making, a jury denied a couple’s claims that BMW was responsible for $5 million of damages to their property. The ruling found that, contrary to the plaintiffs’ allegations, the vehicle in the plaintiffs’ garage was not the cause of the fire that destroyed their antique Pittsburgh home.

Arnd von Waldow, an attorney with the Reed Smith team that defended BMW, said the long lead-up to the trial was due to the case’s contentious nature, in addition to some pandemic-related holdups.
