For the past weeks former President Donald Trump has been in a courtroom in downtown Manhattan in trial on criminal charges related to the payment of “hush money” in connection with his 2016 campaign. The millions of citizens interested in the first-ever criminal trial of a former president have had to rely on reports from journalists witnessing the trial. They neither heard nor saw for themselves what was happening.

Meanwhile in Washington, D.C. on April 25, the United States Supreme Court heard hours of oral argument on Trump’s claim of total immunity from criminal prosecution; an issue aptly described by Justice Neil Gorsuch as one for the ages. Citizens interested in this proceeding could listen to live-stream audio (better than nothing) but did not have access to video.
