Two weeks after the shooting death of her son by an attorney who came to her door with a gun, U.S. District Judge Esther Salas of the District of New Jersey has called for a “national dialogue” on safeguarding the privacy of federal judges.
In a nine-minute video that was made public Monday, Salas spoke of the killing of her son, Daniel, 20, at the hands of Roy Den Hollander, an attorney who recently appeared before the judge in a case. Referring to Den Hollander as a “monster,” she said he knew her address and what church she attended and had “a complete dossier on me and my family.” Judges’ addresses and other information are readily available on the internet, and their personal information can be purchased for nefarious purposes, Salas said.
