Albany County Family Court Judge Margaret Walsh has been appointed co-chair of the state court system’s Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics.

Walsh, an acting Court Justice, presides over the tax certiorari part in Albany County and previously sat in Rensselaer County Supreme Court’s integrated domestic violence part.

She will head the ethics panel with former Dutchess County Supreme Justice George Marlow, its long-time chair.

Established in 1987, the advisory committee responds to inquiries from New York’s approximately 3,600 state and local judges, as well as from judicial hearing officers, support magistrates, court attorney referees and candidates seeking election to judicial office.

Since its creation, the committee has issued approximately 4,000 formal opinions and has fielded thousands of informal telephone inquiries from judges.
