The Office of the Appellate Defender will host its 23rd annual “First Monday in October” fundraiser on Oct. 5—a Wednesday. The timing was altered this year to avoid conflicting with Rosh Hashana.

Lewis Liman, a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, and David Zornow, a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, will receive the Gould Award for legal advocacy. They will argue Apple, Inc. v. FBI, a hypothetical case that confronts the tension between individual privacy and the needs of law enforcement in a digital age.
