The New York City Bar Association on Monday honored James Liebman, a professor at Columbia Law School, and Kaye Scholer following a program on capital defense training for law students and attorneys.

Liebman received the Norman Redlich Capital Defense Distinguished Service Award for his efforts to abolish the death penalty and prevent prisoner executions, while Kaye Scholer partner Lori Leskin accepted the Norman Redlich Capital Defense Pro Bono Award for her firm’s advocacy on behalf of death-row inmates.
