Hiram Gonzalez, senior facilities coordinator at Cooley, cuts the ribbon Wednesday to celebrate the opening of a remodeled basement at Rose House, a domestic violence shelter operated by Safe Horizon where abuse victims—mostly women with children—can stay for up to one year. In the past few months, 27 Cooley employees, including nine lawyers, volunteered to renovate the basement to create a community room for the shelter’s children. The firm has done pro bono legal work and fundraisers for Safe Horizon in the past.
