An eight-year veteran of the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office has been tapped as the agency’s new head. Dennis Brown, the bureau chief of the municipal law bureau, was picked yesterday by County Executive Steven Bellone as the next Suffolk County attorney. The county legislature must approve the appointment and a vote could occur as soon as March 5.

Brown, a 1984 graduate of Brooklyn Law School, joined the office in 2005 as deputy bureau chief of general litigation. He would make $162,760 in his new role. His previous legal experience included 10 years in private practice, where he handled tort defense and insurance coverage litigation.
