Despite ever-growing evidence that proper oral hygiene is a cornerstone of a person’s overall well-being, most states still lack comprehensive care for adults in their respective Medicaid programs, a coverage gap that subjects low-income people to further health problems, reduced employment prospects, social stigma and more.

While New York’s Medicaid program includes coverage for dental care, it used to restrict a host of necessary procedures, including root canals, crowns, replacement dentures and implants.
