If you haven’t heard already, New York Fashion Week is less than a month way! One of the big stories surrounding New York Fashion Week over the last few years has been the need for cultural diversity on the runway. In 2019, The Council of Fashion Designers of America penned a letter to New York Fashion Week designers, stating “[a]s you cast your New York Fashion Week shows, please remember to promote diversity and inclusion, on and off the runway.”

The council also released a diversity report making the case for cultural diversity in fashion.  Designers participating in New York Fashion Week’s spring/summer 2023 shows certainly took heed, with New York’s runways reporting more diversity than ever in areas of culture, race and body size.
