The law firm with the largest New York office is actually born out of Chicago.
Kirkland & Ellis has passed both Davis, Polk & Wardwell and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as the largest private law office in Manhattan, based on attorney head count. Kirkland now had 795 full time equivalent attorneys in Gotham last year, besting No. 2 Davis Polk (791) and Paul Weiss (766), according to the latest New York Law Journal 100 ranking.
