David Nocenti, a former executive director of the East Harlem-based Union Settlement with deep experience serving as counsel to top elected officials, has been named the next chief legal officer for the state’s Office of Court Administration, the court system announced Monday. 

Starting Wednesday, Nocenti will be bestowed with a wide range of responsibilities that includes advising court system leadership on policy matters, representing judges and court employees when they are sued in state and federal courts, advising court personnel on ethical issues and taking part in preparing the court system’s legislative agenda, according to an OCA news release.
