The New York court system is restoring the public’s right to observe civil proceedings in trial courts that have been held virtually in response to the COVID-19 pandemic over nearly the past three years.

The Office of Court Administration—after a push by lawyers from the New York Civil Liberties Union—is establishing a web portal to process requests from the press and public who want to observe virtual civil proceedings in state Supreme Court.
