The coronavirus is now active in more than half of New York’s prisons as officials report hundreds of new inmate infections this month, according to state data released Thursday.

There have been at least 448 new coronavirus cases among prisoners this month and 16 inmates are hospitalized at an outside facility as of Thursday, according to officials and data from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
