Melinda Katz, left, was sworn in as Queens County District Attorney on Monday, Jan. 6, by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore during a ceremony at St. John’s University Law School, her alma mater. Katz’s son Hunter looked on.

Katz, who succeeds the late DA Richard Brown, was previously a litigator for Weil, Gotshal & Manges and a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, a position she held until her election as Queens Borough president.
