A state appeals court ordered a new trial for a mother in a parental rights case after her two-day Zoom trial last year was plagued with technical glitches.

In an opinion Monday, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court found the mother’s due process rights were violated when an Essex County Juvenile Court judge moved forward with a trial, despite the mother having connection issues and missing almost a day’s worth of testimony.
