Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and shaky economy, corporate legal department spending increased, albeit slightly, heading into 2021, and a majority of in-house departments managed to avoid staffing cuts, according to HBR Consulting’s latest law department survey. 

“What was surprising and really positive for the industry more broadly is that law departments are still in the mode of investing versus cutting back,” said Lauren Chung, survey editor and managing director at HBR Consulting in New York.
