The world of legal ops is slowly maturing, according to a recent survey from Deloitte. But despite increased legal ops planning and buy-in from corporate executives, there remains some question whether legal ops professionals are actually able to execute their newly laid plans.

The Deloitte survey focused on CLOC’s 12 core competencies of legal operations, with 81 companies across five industries measuring their own maturity against the competencies. The companies themselves could choose what was measured—as many as 80% measured themselves in firm and vendor management, for instance, while just 48% measured their organization optimization and health. About one-quarter of participants measured themselves in all 12 competencies.
