In an effort to automate, many legal departments are chasing contract life cycle management technology before doing their homework and understanding how it works.

That’s according to legal operations adviser Lucy Bassli. With lack of corporate leadership over CLM, the legal department often becomes over-functioning, taking on the entire life cycle of a contract when they should just be overseeing it, she explained.
