Carole Burns’ commitment to pro bono began when she was a law student in the early 1970s, continued through decades of busy practice and, now that she is retired, is in full bloom.

Ms. Burns was a Fordham University School of Law student when volunteer work with The Legal Aid Society and Queens Legal Services piqued her interest in helping others. After graduating in 1972 and beginning a career in commercial and tort litigation, Ms. Burns joined the Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee, a program on Long Island that offers a full panoply of civil legal services to low income, disabled and otherwise disadvantaged individuals.
