Football fans and legal spectators alike anxiously await the June 3rd “Super Bowl” of NFL litigation to be hosted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. At stake are the livelihoods of professional football players and the future of a game that millions adore.

Long before this year’s newly minted draft selections and veterans put on their pads and lace up their shoes, the U.S. legal system will have its say in determining the future of the National Football League (NFL). The players will have more than a passing interest in the ongoing proceedings; each is actually a putative member of a class action that pits the players (including all active, former and prospective players) against the NFL, its teams and its owners.
