Oliver Jovanovic’s claims that his civil rights were violated by a police detective who fabricated evidence and a prosecutor who poisoned the jury pool with her inflammatory comments to the media in a so-called “cybersex torture” case have been thrown out by a federal judge.

Southern District Judge Paul A. Crotty granted summary judgment yesterday to Detective Milton Bonilla and former sex crimes prosecutor Linda Fairstein, finding there was probable cause for charging Mr. Jovanovic in the rape, sodomy and kidnapping of Jamie Rzucek, a Barnard College student he met in an America Online chat room.
