A Florida state court dismissed a class action lawsuit, brought by over 1,000 people who own property within the area that receives water from the Water Treatment Plant in Miramar, and sought millions of dollars in damages over corrosive copper piping.

Michael Hanzman, senior counsel at Bilzin Sumberg, said there are narrow circumstances under which nonclients, such as the plaintiff property owners, can bring negligence-based claims against professionals, like the defendants, Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc., a professional engineering consulting firm.
