A Second District Court of Appeals panel reversed a county court’s grant of summary judgment in favor of Fednat Insurance Co., which claimed a breach of contract lawsuit was moot after it paid an appraisal award to the assignee.

In September 2017, homeowner Anne Dorrell hired Synergy Contracting Group Inc., to complete restorative repair work after her residence suffered damages due to “a sudden and accidental water loss,” according to the appeals court’s Dec. 10 opinion. Dorrell assigned her rights in her Fednat insurance policy to Synergy.
