Achieving the often-elusive work-life balance as a busy business reorganization associate trying to make partner was already challenging before March 2020:

  • On the work side: Providing quality work product and solutions for multiple clients on complex matters while networking consistently to foster business development and enhance community reputation. Add to that mentoring younger associates, participating in firm activities and generally being a good corporate citizen, not to mention staying up-to-date on emerging trends and legal developments in the insolvency world.
  • On the life side: Enjoying meaningful time away from work with family and friends, getting a reasonable amount of sleep, supporting worthy causes, and taking time off to travel (yes, real vacations!).

You’d be forgiven for thinking that obtaining a work-life balance while trying to make partner was an unrealistic goal. Then COVID-19 happened, and the calculus changed altogether and overnight.
