I’m very concerned. So you don’t need to be.  Take a breath and keep reading.

As your Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging consultant, I reach out to you at this critical time, to inform, advise, support and inspire you. As you well know, there is an unfortunate trend developing in various sections of the United States concerning equity issues. And this trend spurs intolerance, prejudice, fear and even hate.  Legislatures on the state level are considering and passing laws that restrict various educational freedoms (e.g. Stop WOKE Act) and the individual right to self-expression (i.e. anti-transgender and LGBTQ movements), both of which threaten basic First Amendment protections. The outgrowth of these and similar actions could be a chilling of inclusionary expression and the reduction of pro-equity agendas, such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies and programming.
