Shifting state election rules and the pandemic have caused an unprecedented ramp-up in work by volunteers at large law firms and others to resolve voter queries and complaints.

Firms such as Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Proskauer Rose anticipate devoting many more volunteer hours this year to the Election Protection program, which has a dedicated hotline to provide voters across the country with comprehensive voting information. It’s another sign of Big Law’s deep participation in the 2020 election, beyond some firms representing political parties in voting litigation.
