Class action filings are rising, particularly for consumers, employees and those suing for violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to a class action litigation report released Thursday by Lex Machina, a division of LexisNexis.

Lex Machina analyzed class action filings in federal district courts and appellate courts, finding that they have steadily increased from 2014 to 2020, dipped 10% in 2021, then started rising again in 2022. Last year, class action filings jumped 4% to 9,705.
