Southwest Airlines’ top lawyer, Mark Shaw, will be relinquishing the legal reins and moving into an advisory role on June 1, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing late Wednesday.

“After 24 years of working for not just the best airline around, but one of the best companies in the world, I made the difficult decision to step down from my role at Southwest for personal reasons,” Shaw told Law.com in an emailed statement. “I will miss working with the great people at Southwest on a daily basis, but look forward to continuing to support the company wherever I can in my executive advisor role.”
